NC Home Visiting and Parenting Education System Has Named a New Director
Rachael Burrello, HVPE System Director
The North Carolina Partnership for Children (NCPC) is proud to announce that Rachael Burrello has been named the first Director of the NC Home Visiting and Parenting Education (HVPE) System. The HVPE System aims to ensure all families have access to a range of parenting education supports in early childhood to strengthen parent-child relationships and improve family and child well-being. Guided by a Collaborative Board and supported by stakeholder committees and advisory groups, members are working to build and maintain a family support ecosystem that remediates racial and economic inequities by improving coordination across state funders and programs.
As the director, Rachael will promote the strategic vision of the HVPE System and facilitate the implementation of early stage priorities from the action plan for home visiting and parenting education. She will lead the launch of the system’s governance structure, elevate the leadership and experience of families in the HVPE System’s work, support local assessment and planning, and explore new and innovative funding sources for both home visiting and parenting education services.
Rachael has served as a program officer at NCPC since March 2020, supporting 15 local partnerships and providing content leadership in family support, including home visiting and parenting education. She has been a leader in the development of the HVPE System, serving on several committees and workgroups in partnership with other statewide organizations. She also has deep experience in systems building with an intentional equity lens, having co-led a grassroots community effort to build a vision for preparing all of Guilford County’s youngest children for lifelong success, which became Ready for School, Ready for Life.
As the convening agency, NCPC will host the new director, as she works with stakeholders across the HVPE System. Rachael has already begun planning for her new role but will start officially on August 23rd. You can reach her at rburrello@smartstart.org.
