Partnership for Children of Cumberland County Helps in the Creation of NC’s first Community Child Abuse Prevention Plan

The Partnership for Children of Cumberland County and 40 other agencies met as part of a collective movement to ensure that all families and children lead healthy and prosperous lives.

The Partnership for Children of Cumberland County worked alongside Prevent Child Abuse and the Child Advocacy Center to create the first community child abuse prevention plan in North Carolina.  In 2017, this plan was presented to the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners.

Since then, community interest around child abuse prevention has risen and the Fayetteville Observer hosted a Child Abuse Prevention Forum with state leaders and child abuse prevention experts. Now, the team is focusing on three priorities: raising awareness and commitment to the plan, changing the norm, and using data to inform action.
