Smart Start’s  NC Healthy & Resilient Communities Initiative (NC HRCI) has launched a NC Healthy & Resilient Data Dashboard. The dashboard was added to Smart Start Community Indicators, adding 8 new indicators to the overarching dashboard. Start Community Indicators, contains insights and visualizations to support planning and decision making for county-level investments. By creating a dashboard focused on resiliency, Smart Start Local Partnerships and partners throughout North Carolina can use the collected data to better plan and make decisions for their communities as well as examine inequities that may exist.

New Metrics and Indicators

The new indicators within the NC Healthy & Resilient Data Dashboard are based on the 5 categories of the CDC’s Social Determinants of Health as well as a metric focused on structural racism. It is important to note that these metrics are not available at all levels like the indicators in Smart Start Community Indicators—highlighting the need for more investments to guide and measure this work. New metrics include but are not limited to absenteeism, the suicide rate, and social vulnerability.
