NC Tri-Share Child Care Pilot Program for Employers

Recruit, Retain, and Support

Recruit, Retain, and Support Your Employees for a Thriving Business

Through this innovative new approach, child care expenses are shared by the employer, the employee, and the State to assist qualifying employees with child care costs.

The NC Tri-Share Pilot divides the cost equally among three parties:

  1. Employers: Employers contribute as part of an employee benefit, attracting and retaining talent while supporting working families.
  2. Families: Families pay a fraction of the actual cost of child care.
  3. The State of NC: The State helps to increase child care access for working families statewide.

NC Tri-Share is administered by NCPC and the Smart Start Network across all North Carolina counties.

NC Tri-Share Goals Include:

  • Making high-quality child care affordable and accessible for working families
  • Helping employers retain and attract employees
  • Supporting the stabilization of child care businesses across the State.

How Employers Benefit from NC Tri-Share

  • Reduced Absenteeism and Turnover: The NC Chamber Foundation reported $4.29 billion in losses for employers due to issues like employee absenteeism and turnover.
