Pre-K Program Assistant

Wake County Smart Start is seeking a Pre-K Program Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and programmatic support to the Pre-K Department, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, supporting family and community engagement efforts, and helping to implement key program activities.

  • Hiring Range: Maximum $40,336

  • Benefits: Health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with matching, paid time off, life insurance

  • Work Environment: This position is a hybrid position. The direct supervisor will define the work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support:

  • Process child applications and perform eligibility reviews

  • Support attendance tracking and data entry

  • Assist with database management, reporting, and evaluation tasks

Administrative Assistance:

  • Coordinate meetings and events, prepare reports, and maintain department files

  • Provide tech support for office equipment and ensure department supplies are stocked

  • Update program materials and website content in collaboration with staff

Family & Community Engagement:

  • Greet families, respond to inquiries, and provide general support

  • Assist with community events and represent WCSS positively

  • Participate in team meetings and provide backup for other admin roles when needed

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree in business administration or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant professional experience

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with databases; Spanish fluency preferred
