NC Tri-Share Child Care Pilot Program for Employees

What is NC Tri-Share?

NC Tri-Share is a statewide public-private partnership that enhances child care for families, employers, and providers through a three-way cost split.

NC Tri-Share divides the cost equally among three parties:

  • Employers: Employers contribute as part of an employee benefit, attracting and retaining talent while supporting working families.
  • Families: Families pay a fraction of the actual cost of child care.
  • The State of NC: The State helps to increase child care access for working families statewide.

NC Tri-Share is administered by NCPC and the Smart Start Network across all North Carolina counties.

How Can You Become a Part of NC Tri-Share?

Qualifying families will be:

  • Employed by a participating business
  • Have a household income between 185% and 300% of the federal poverty level.
  • Ineligible for other subsidized child care.
